The reason we have grouped all of these plants together is because they have adapted roots that store moisture. Many of these plants can also be termed as bulbs- which means they can display dormancy when conditions are unfavourable. I must add that our plants are so adaptable that several of them can be applied as marginal and bulk plants as well. This amazes and exites me!
